Opening day for Parchment Little League

Jessie is playing little league for her second year. This year she is in 7-8 softball where they use the pitching machine. She's having a lot of fun and is also gradually learning some more skills. One thing she really needs to work on is paying attention during the game. These are pictures from opening day.

Ready to go to the high school to meet her team for the parade. It was a very chilly morning.

The girls are starting to arrive and load in the truck. Her friend Kelly is on the right.

Still posing as the other girls are sitting down.

The parade is coming down Riverview. Do you think the sirens were loud for Kat? :)

Jessie's team passing us. She threw a lot of candy for Kat. She's the second one from the right.

Still throwing candy.

I think they finally took a break from throwing candy.

Now the firetrucks at the end of the parade are loud.

Mema and Bepa helping Kat pick candy up off the street.

Grabbing as much as they can before traffic starts up again.

This is how much Parchment people like their candy. Swarming the streets for free candy. The car on the left even stopped in the middle of the street and left his door wide open while he got out to get candy.

One more shot before they got to the fields (all out of candy).

I mentioned it was chilly. Actually by now it was COLD and WINDY. The girls are all huddling together to keep warm.

On the field after their team was finally called. Jessie is number 10.

Waiting for her turn to bat.

Believe it or not she's about to hit this ball. If you can't see it her eyes are closed.

This was something she did everytime she ran the bases, pulling her pants up. I got her a belt by the next game, even though it was funny to see her hike her pants every time.

No she doesn't have to go to the bathroom. She was shivering from the cold on 2nd base.

One of Kat's favorite things to do at the games...eat popcorn.

Her other favorite thing to do...play with her friends. Morgan is on the left and Olivia is in the middle.

Playing on defense. This shows how she needs to pay attention. We had to tell her to put her mitt on the correct hand and watch the ball. She was having fun though:)

Now she's ready for the ball:)
